Stacey Holt Real Estate Excellence PME training and CPD statement.
We made the difficult decisionto to not hold any other PME half day or full day special training events for now other than the Thank a Property Manager Day special one day event due to commencement of the mandatory CPD for Queensland Property Agents/Managers on June 6th, 2025. I still provide private Training services.
This decision was made to enable our Members and Clients to engage in sessions that will be of benefit to meeting the new legislative requirements. Noting that under 23% of Real Estate Excellence Members attend our face to face training held during the last 14 years. I stress the below does not affect my core business which is Membership advisory best practice support services and the PME system. Membership services - Real Estate Excellence
I wrote to the OFT in early February after they released the information (below) on February 13, 2025. I had assumed that the requirements to provide CPD would be only for a registered training organisation (RTO).
I was most delighted and excited when the details were released which states “delivered by an RTO or industry body with at least 2 years' experience training the property sector or a government department”. Industry body criterion certainly fit my business model.
I am by choice not an RTO. When I began my business in January 2010, my vision and purpose was to provide ‘personal and professional services’. That vision and purpose remains today.
Having worked with an RTO in my past career, I understand the challenges, time and resources which are required to comply with the requirements. Had I headed in the direction of RTO, my core purpose and why would have been obscured, and my purpose remains the same.
After several communications with the CPD OFT Department, I was advised that I do not meet the criterion of industry body with at least 2 years' experience training the property sector or a government department” in lieu of being an RTO mentioned above. My business meets the requirements of all outlined below, except according to the CPD OFT Department, I do not meet and “requires their members to comply with established ethical standards”.
An industry body is a membership organisation established to develop industry standards, that advocates and lobbies on behalf of members in the property sector, provides professional advice to their members, and requires their members to comply with established ethical standards. I am of course greatly disappointed. We are going to monitor the new CPD as it rolls out from June, and gauge industry feedback in relation to the Office of Fair-Trading (OFT) requirements.
Real Estate Excellence is not an approved (by the OFT) CPD provider, and any training services would not go towards any CPD requirements.
The above does not affect our main business of Membership services. Membership services - Real Estate Excellence
Type 1 CPD sessions
Type 1 sessions are designed to promote and improve core skills.
A Type 1 session is either:
- an accredited unit of competency delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO) in the following qualifications
- CPP40521 Certificate IV in Strata Community Management
- CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice
- CPP51122 Diploma of Property (Agency Management)
- an approved, condensed 'CPD version' of 1 of the above units delivered by an RTO or industry body with at least 2 years' experience training the property sector or a government department.
We'll publish a list of approved Type 1 sessions on this page before the CPD requirement begins.
Type 2 CPD sessions
Type 2 sessions are designed to promote and improve industry-relevant skills. They aren't based on the property training package units of competency.
We'll publish a list of approved Type 2 sessions on this page before the CPD requirement begins.
More information regarding the new CPD is following.
Below is an extract for organisations who wish to make a proposal to hold CPD courses and be approved by the Office of Fair Trading (the OFT).
Method: <Specify whether this CPD session will be delivered to students in a classroom setting, online, as a recording, or any combination of these. This is expected to vary depending on the provider’s own resources and the provider’s assessment of what best suits both the content and attendees.>
