6th July 2021 - Covid Check in App from Office of Fair Trading

Property agents

COVID-19 restrictions have been placed on open houses, inspections and auctions. For more information, read the frequently asked questions about the restrictions on different types of businesses and the latest COVID-19 updates from the Queensland Government.

Businesses need to follow the Chief Health Officer’s public health directions and keep up to date with requirements to make your business and customers COVID safe.

The Queensland Real Estate COVID Safe Industry Plan is no longer valid. All businesses in the property industry must operate under a COVID Safe Checklist for Restricted Businesses, which outlines the COVID Safe requirements. A signed copy of the checklist must be displayed at your business.

You must also continue to comply with the requirements to observe social distancing and collect and keep customer contact details.

From Friday 9 July, it is mandatory for businesses in the property industry to use the Check In Qld app to record customers’ contact details. Each real estate agency should download the app and use it for all agency activities (i.e. auctions, open homes and inspections). You do not need one for each individual inspection or salesperson.

Short-term residential facilities, such as hotels, boarding houses and short-term holiday rentals, also need to check customers in using the app from Friday 9 July.

4th July 2021 - Covid Check in QLD App

The information has been updated again on 4th July due to Office of Fair Trading. Updated information is available at Member Online - Latest Member update, then Covid information or July 2021 folder, or email us to receive.  Part of email sent 5th July 2021 "There is inconsistent advice and information coming from Queensland Health, and now Office of Fair Trading have posted the below on their Facebook page on 2nd July. Some agencies may have set up the office, and or the office plus each registered staff member who carry out open homes as a mobile office with their car registration. Members note I have updated advice as per post on 4th July and in the Members Facebook and Instagram group Real Estate Excellence Member Update. There is not a section of law so to speak to review interpret and the mandatory requirement is from the Chief Health Officer Directions (which are law) and can be found Restrictions on Businesses, Activities and Undertakings Direction (No. 21) | Queensland Health - Fair Trading Queensland | Facebook  2nd July 2021 post. "From Friday 9 July, the Check In Qld app will be mandatory for the property industry. You need to download the app once and use it for all agency activities – every open home inspection, auction etc. You don’t need a new app for each inspection and for each salesperson. Register at: www.covid19.qld.gov.au/check-in-qld. It’s free, safe and easy to use and provides a convenient check-in process for your clients".

4th July 2021 Restrictions impacted areas

Below sourced from here.

I am a real estate agent – can I conduct open house inspections or auctions?

Yes, open house inspections are permitted in impacted areas.

In impacted areas, auctions are permitted with one person per 4 square metres indoors or 2 square metres outdoors. If the space is less than 200 square metres in size, then the one person per 2 square metre rule will apply, up to 50 people.

The agent should ensure good hand hygiene and frequent environmental cleaning and disinfection is maintained during an open house inspection.

Contact information must be collected using the Check In Qld app. The agent should ensure that physical distancing including 4 or 2 square metres per person, hand hygiene and frequent environmental cleaning and disinfection is maintained as necessary during an open house inspection.

Can you have many visits throughout the day?

Yes, there is no limit to the number of visits you can have in a day. You can have a maximum of 30 people in your home at any one time including the members of your household in an impacted area.

We want to remind Queenslanders that limited contact with other people is one of the best ways to slow the spread of COVID-19. Always practise physical distancing, even when you’re visiting another household – so keep two big steps away from other people and avoid hugs, kisses and handshakes.
